In New England, a local college and Vermont farm are partnering with Vanguard Renewables to turn their food waste into renewable natural gas. This is the largest anaerobic digestion system in the area. The idea came from the massive amounts of cow manure from the Vermont dairy farms. Once the manure and food waste go through a phosphorus reduction process it gets sent back to the farms as fertilizer. The Local college uses renewable natural gas power to the college and Vanguard also uses it to power other utilities.
