Through implementation of both AI and student user data cafeterias could learn student patterns and know when and what to have prepared. This article claims that by learning patterns of when students come, what they eat, and having students plan ahead on whether they will be eating in the dining hall, that cafeterias could significantly cut down on food waste. Students would have the ability to say if they were going, what they would likely be eating, and they could indicate any specific dietary restrictions. This would allow the dining staff to prepare accordingly rather than having each station over prepare food just in case.
