Since 2016 Lidl in London has been able to reduce food waste by 43% one of the things that they are doing is discounting “Imperfect” fruits and vegetables (discolored, damaged) that are still fine to eat and discounting them for cheap to encourage buyers to purchase and use the perfectly fine food before it goes bad. Another thing Lidl is doing to contribute is to get compostable and reusable bags and switch to compostable containers for mushrooms.
