The Grow-NY competition spotlighted two innovative solutions tackling food waste in the United States. Mush Foods, led by Shalom Daniel, unveiled a meat-mushroom hybrid product, cutting meat consumption by 50% while enhancing taste and nutrition. This won them a $250,000 prize, fueling their expansion in New York. Meanwhile, Wisely, created by Rachelle McCray, offers smart food storage containers and an app to reduce household waste by tracking leftovers and suggesting recipes. Although Wisely didn’t clinch a prize, its mission revolves around reshaping behaviors to minimize food waste at home.
