China’s launched a campaign last year with the goal to manage food waste. This campaign was led by President Xi Jinping during the Covid-19 pandemic as worries about food insecurity skyrocketed. While tangible results have come out of this campaign, China wants to strengthen its efforts to reduce the amount of grain that is lost at harvest. Their new plan to reduce grain waste calls for higher seed standards and new technology. These new actions will promote multi-resistance crop varieties and precision planting of grains. China is hopeful that this new plan will help to reduce grain waste and waste in households across the country.
