As technology advances and becomes abundantly accessible new innovative solutions are needed to create and solve world problems. Food waste is a reoccurring problem; however, it’s more accessible to tackle when using current technology. Apps like Olio help local “food samaritans” locate specific stores that are getting rid of food almost past its “use by” date. Once the food is organized, they will redistribute this food to those in need of it. Awareness of apps like this is necessary to alleviate the current wasteful practices, which creates almost a domino-like effect shaping like-minded individuals dedicated to donating and redistributing food. The next step is to implement this feature globally.
