The University of Rhode Island has implemented a new program that reduces food waste while improving food access for residents in Rhode Island. The URI program trains volunteers under the guise of learning about food recovery and community organization. Abundantly, all elements can be used with their food system, steering from nutrition to in-home practices, waste education, and non-profit solution work. By educating more individuals and creating awareness of this program, more residents of Rhode Island will be better prepared to tackle the issue that is food waste.
