While reclamation of past-dated produce is nothing new, Divert’s business model combines both redistribution and reclamation to both redistribute the still good selection and convert what cannot be used by other entities into renewable natural gas.  Scanning and sorting produce allows them to maximize remaining usefulness, and then the rest is able to avoid the landfill, where the real environmental damage takes place as decomposing material gives off high levels of emissions.
