Connecticut has built a processing plant named Bright Feeds, with the hope of solving the waste disposal crisis. This plant’s technology was developed by engineers at Boston College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Sizing at 25,000 square feet, the plant uses AI and drying technology to convert wasted food into a soy and corn substitute for animal feed. Being able to accept a wide variety of food, including dry food as well as wet waste such as fruits and vegetables, the sell this nutritious product to animal feed manufacturers. The Bright Feed initiative hopes to expand this program throughout the country in the future.
