Loblaw, Canada’s largest grocery chain, is using Flashfood, a program to help reduce food waste. The program uses an app to sell food nearing its best by dates at discounts up to 50%. Over the past two years more than 1.6 million Canadians have used the program, diverting 40 million pounds of food from landfills and saving consumers over 110 million dollars. Loblaw was Flashfoods first partner, but they are continuing to grow and partner with other businesses to increase customer savings and reduce food waste in the future.
