Magofarm in Rwanda is using fly larvae to convert food waste in biomass. They collect as much food waste as possible before it can reach a landfill and break it down and ensure it has proper moisture. This allows for them to feed it to black soldier fly larvae, converting food waste into a “nutrient-rich protein ingredient”. This can then be used as an animal feed or fertiliser turning food waste into a way to produce more food.
