Every Greek throughs out about 100 kilograms of food each year, so a homegrown app was created called FoodBag. FoodBag is a new app that allows businesses, like bakeries and grocery stores, the ability to sell surplus products at a reduced price. Advertisements telling shoppers that their food bills will reduce drastically when using the app to purchase food that would otherwise go to waste. The app is limited to Attica at the moment but is already proving successful with 6,500 users and 80 businesses selling their food on FoodBag.
