A new drop off site was recently installed at Otter County Solid Waste in Parkers Prairie. The drop off sites are places for people who want to compost but not do it themselves. Those interested must sign up online to receive a starter kit with compostable bags and kitchen pail. After that they simply put the scraps in a compostable bag and drop it off at a drop off site. Workers then collect the waste and deliver it to Glacial Ridge Compost Facility to be composted. The program collects 5,000 pounds of waste a week and has kept 20,000 pounds of waste out of the trash since the program started in March 2022.
