A company based in New York called AfterLife.Ag has been able to find new creative ways to reuse food waste. What they do is collect food waste from restaurants and grocery stores and turn it into a medium to grow mushrooms. The fungi break down the food waste as the mushrooms grow and after they are harvested they are given to parks or farms to be composted. They also sell the mushrooms to restaurants and stores.
