A bipartisan bill called the School Food Recovery Act was introduced in Congress recently. The bill would create a new partnership between schools and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The new partnership will create a program that will give eligible schools education, funding, and other resources to support schools in reducing food waste on their campuses. The program could be a game-changer in reducing the 530,000 tons of food waste produced in American schools each year and produce new generations of more environmentally conscious students.
