Part of food waste that comes from households is from leftovers. One way to address this issue as well as food waste in general is through “community fridges”. These fridges are stocked by volunteers with free food (like prepared meals and leftovers) and can be found all over the country. Not only do these fridges help reduce food waste (such as giving leftover pizza instead of it going in the trash) and climate change (reducing the amount of food in landfills), but they help to feed the community around them with items that would typically be difficult to acquire from a food bank.
