A survey done by Dole Sunshine Company shows that much of the population is uneducated and unaware of what to do about food waste, with up to a third of Americans saying they don’t try to reduce food waste at home. Dole has partnered with City Harvest in New York to rescue and donate thousands of pounds of food to New Yorkers facing food insecurity. They are also launching an education campaign with ads formatted like nutrition labels, meant to shed light on how much food is being wasted and what steps people can take to reduce it. There will also be social media campaigns meant to educate, and Dole has worked with chefs at City Harvest to create easy recipes that reduce food waste.
