These Compost Crusaders collect organic waste from businesses and households in Milwaukee and dump it into a big pile. They then let it break down and use it for soil. This local business is trying to find more sustainable ways to deal with food waste. They have diverted almost 8 million pounds of material from going into the landfill. I think this is such a relatively “easy” way of saving food from the landfill. I’m sure it takes a lot of planning and a lot of hard work, but dumping it into a pile and letting it decay in an environmentally friendly way is so much better, for both the planet and your conscious, then letting it decay in the landfill.
