This video talks about reducing food waste and wasteful practices in general during the holidays. The specialists cite better shopping and cooking practices are a strong start; you can’t waste food if you don’t have any to waste. They also talk about how smaller plates can affect perceptions about how much food is being eaten, so smaller plates are preferred as to not give people a chance to overfill their plate. Finally, they recommend encouraging your guests to bring tupperware or other containers to bring home leftovers. By giving away as much of the extra food as possible, less food ends up in the trash.
