Walmart has partnered with Denali to streamline food waste recycling at over 1,400 Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. This initiative, called ReCirculate, involves placing locked bins for food waste at these stores.

Employees can dispose of expired products directly into the bins, which Denali then collects.

At Denali’s facilities, mechanical sorters remove up to 97% of the packaging, allowing the remaining food to be processed into compost, animal feed, or biofuel. This collaboration aims to reduce food waste, which contributes to methane emissions when decomposed in landfills.

Walmart’s goal is to achieve zero operational waste by 2025 and this initiative is a significant step towards more sustainable practices.
