Lane County, Oregon, is building a new facility that diverts food waste out of the landfills. The food waste and other organic material will be recycled and transformed into natural gas instead. This idea will be cost effective for both taxpayers/the community as well as the landfill itself. I think this is a great idea that more landfills should invest in as it improves both the community and the dump site.
