This article focuses on the governmental impact on the environmental sustainability efforts to reduce food waste. Recently, the U.S. Agency for International Development had over 489 million dollars of food aid that stalled due to federal guidance. This delay will lead to food spoilage and stops the process of the food reaching those in need. With this confusion of the regulatory uncertainty, these foods have been held from transportation which is raising concerns of the significant amount of food waste as a result. Not only does this affect international efforts, this is raising concerns of future incomes of U.S. farmers as many of them rely on programs that prevent food waste, which have a large impact on environmental and humanitarian efforts.
