New York based non-profit, ReFED, has developed an action plan to reduce food waste by 2030. The plan explains that food waste occurs through every step of the supply chain and in order to successfully reduce waste, each member must buy in. ReFED suggests that it will take about 14 billion dollars to fund this project, but they say it will be worth it. It will reduce tons of food waste while creating long term financial benefits, too. This investment will provide long term benefits for the nation by creating jobs, reducing waste, and addressing food insecurity.
