The Pennsylvania Farm Show’s 34th butter sculpture was deconstructed and recycled in a digester to create renewable energy. Dairy farmer Brett Reinford transported the sculpture to his farm, Reinford Farms, in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. There, the butter, along with other food waste, was processed in methane digesters that convert organic material into electricity and renewable natural gas. Annually, Reinford Farms diverts about 50,000 tons of food waste from landfills, turning it into a resource while also reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.
