The Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment and the U.S. Food Waste Pact completed seven case studies focusing on their efforts on their food waste solutions. They are focusing on two solutions of employee engagement and whole chain collaboration that have been proven to reduce food waste. With employee engagement, studies from Bob’s Red Mill have shown a result of food waste reduction through employee driven ideas like regular checks on product line bolts. On the other hand, whole chain collaboration has been seen to impact the potato supply chain, as efforts on reducing waste throughout the supply chain process made a difference. This is just the start focusing on specific supply chains, but additional case studies are encouraged to focus on reducing food waste in other areas. Continuing these efforts in 2025 will help expand to areas like meat, dairy, and fruit to make a more national impact.
