Google aims to reduce their food waste to zero by 2025, including sending no food waste to landfills. They argue that every choice has consequences, but it’s about choosing the less of the two evils. For example, one could buy snack foods in bulks to reduce single use plastic, but they then create food waste with everything they don’t eat before it’s expiration. Google attempted to reduce the waste made by their employees by decreasing the size of their lunch trays and getting rid of trays. Because people tend to want to fill up their plates, this has reduced the amount of food they pile onto their plate without them thinking about the fact that they’re eating less. Similarly, rather than every cafeteria having all the options, they provide variety by each cafeteria specializing in one or two things.
