Lane County has been trying to create a food waste diversion facility for its community, but has been rejected for the second time. They would team up with Bulk Handling Systems and create the CleanLane project, which would be turing the food waste they would accumulate into natural gas, instead of going to landfills and creating harmful gases like methane. While this would be a very good project, there have been many legal disputes between the zoning areas, making it hard for people to want this project to continue, so there has been talk of moving it to a different landfill area in hopes that it will appease the masses. Having a facility like this to lower the methane emissions would be really impactful.
