Walmart is partnering with Denali, a company who focuses on recycling organic waste, to produce compost from their food waste to sell in the gardening section of their store. The new compost is branded as ReCirculate and will at first be sold in 8 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Walmart has also committed to and signed the U.S. Food Waste Pact that requires its signatories to report progress transparently and adhere to waste reduction goals. They have already seen a 12% reduction in their food waste and have a goal to see a 50% reduction by 2030.
