To reduce landfill waste, Albuquerque has launched a new composting project for food waste. Up to 60 households can participate in this program by bringing their food waste to the McKinley Community Center, where it is collected and processed by the local hauler. This project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve soil health by providing participants with a starter kit to get started composting. An expansion of the program and education about composting benefits could enhance its impact.
