A recent survey by Love Food Hate Waste found that more than half of UK adults prefer buying loose fruit and vegetables, with bananas being the top pick. This approach helps people buy only what they need, reducing food waste and saving money. Fresh produce, like bananas and potatoes, often gets tossed out too soon adding up to £17 billion in food waste costs each year. The survey suggests that if more people bought loose items, we could cut food waste by around 60,000 tons annually. WRAP, the charity behind the survey, is urging the government to make loose produce more available.
