Cornwall’s new household waste system is being rolled out in Mid West Cornwall starting Monday, starting the final phase of the initiative. This system includes weekly food waste collection and alternate-week pickups for black bag rubbish and recycling. The rollout, which began in January 2024, will eventually cover around 89,000 households. The goal is to reduce non-recycling waste. This has already helped to raise Cornwall’s recycling rate from 34% to 44%, with expectations to reach 50-51% once fully implemented.
